Ream, Ronald W., 75, Johnstown, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023, at Arbutus Park Retirement Community, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer. He was born March 24, 1947, in Johnstown. Son of the late Clarence and Betty Jane (Zimmerman) Ream. Preceded in death by parents; sister-in-law, Emmajean Ream; and brother-in-law, Glenn Miller. Survived by wife, Linda (Watson); daughters, Prudence Kristine, Melissa, and Kimberly (Troy Cook); granddaughter, Amy (Eric Spangenberg); and great-granddaughter, Amelia Jane Spangenberg. Also survived by brothers, Duane and Clarence “Bud” (Beverly); brother-in-law, Daniel Watson; sister-in-law, Patricia Miller; numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Ron spent most of his adult life as a steelworker, and eventually turned a hobby into a career, becoming a photojournalist with WJAC-TV, where he retired from in 2013. In his work with WJAC-TV News, Ron covered some of the biggest stories in our region, from the Quecreek Mine rescue to the crash of Flight 93, interviewing dignitaries and celebrities alike. Friends will be received Saturday March 25th from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Pastor Robert Kaltenbaugh, officiating. Interment to follow at Richland Cemetery. The family would like to send their thanks and appreciation for the compassion and care given by the staff of Arbutus Park Retirement Community and special family friends Lyle Borcherding, Earl Goller, and Ben Van Scoyoc.
