Glass – Sarah C., 96, Johnstown, stepped into the arms of Jesus on Nov.9, 2014 at the Presbyterian Home.  Born March 23, 1918, daughter of the late William & Anna (Thatcher) Haman Sr.  Preceded in death by husband Merle, ending their marriage of 63 years.  Sarah was the last surviving member of her family, which consisted of brothers Russell, Charles, Raymond, Robert, Jack and sisters Virginia, Beatrice, and Shirley.  Loving Mother of  six children:  Saundra, wife of Thomas Gramling Sr., Johnstown; Nancy, wife of Barry Newton, N.C.; William, married to Joyce Gilliland, Conneautville; Kathryn Mallinger, Johnstown; James married to Janet Morris, Johnstown; and Stephen, GA.  Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  Sarah was born and raised in South Fork and met her husband square dancing at Sunset Ballroom.  She was a charter member of the South Fork Girl Scouts and was often asked to sing at her church and in school concerts.  Sarah was a charter member of St. Andrews Ladies Guild and worked ten years as a nurse’s aide at Allegheny Lutheran Home.  Known for her gift of laughter and sweet personality, no one could bake an apple pie like Sarah.  She was a fun and loving Mother and so generous to others.  At the request of Sarah there will be no viewing.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Home of Johnstown where she received such loving care.  A private service celebrating Sarah’s life conducted by grandsons Rev. Dr. Thomas Gramling Jr., with part of the service provided by Chaplin Major Erik Gramling presently on active duty with the U.S. Army deployed in Qatar, will be held Dec. 4, 2014 for all family members at the Little Chapel at Forest Lawn.
